Saw this one on Pinterest! I modified the idea a bit. Some wonderful ladies I work with threw me a baby shower. I cut out a stack of flannel bibs and brought the blanks with me and a package of Crayola Fabric Markers and some file folders. The file folders were to keep under the bibs when the markers bled through the fabric. It was a fun shower game for those who were creative, those whom I didn't know where creative and those who just did something fun and quick and done. 

I brought them home, heat set the images with the iron, sewed them together and added a snap. I'm sure this is more bibs than I'll use, but it was such a fun way to spend time with some great ladies. This was also a cheap activity. The markers were $8, but I used a 1/2 off coupon. The 2 yards of flannel (for fronts and backs) was less than $6 and I had the file folders and snaps. I didn't take long to sew them up since they were already cut out and they are fairly small.

To this tote, I sewed on some fun woven ribbon, lace, patches, and sparklie paint. At the top, you can see the funky curly hair clip I also made. This was a fun gift to make! The hair clip took a lot of time, effort, and I broke a needle.

2 embroidered pillowcases, worth all the time they took. I think they turned out absolutely beautiful!!

Above the cabinets in my kitchen. Someone asked me what I do with my tiny leftover balls. Here they are, beautifully displayed. I often dig through these jars when looking for something to make a small project.

Unfortunately, not a great picture for all the work I put into it. There are many different kinds of stitches here. I really like to take the time for outline embroidery.

Sponge painting with a stencil. The girls chose to use blue and green paint to go with the yarn colors they picked for the knitted horse.

Still working on rotating images. This is a lamp that we found that was brass, pitted, just yucky. Primed it an then the girls mixed up some paint for me. I taped it in the sections and they painted it. Works great next to the sofa for evening reading.

If you look closely, you can see the grease stain I was covering. These were my favorite khaki pants and I refused to throw them away until I found a remedy. I think they look better in real life than this picture.

Some embroidery, I can now see where I can make improvements to how I am doing this. I have made a few bookmarks as well- which I love because they are small and quick.

I am having fun now with the embroidery. We found these hand towels at the Dollar Tree. I finished all 5 days of the week in one afternoon! Monday is yellow and still hanging in the kitchen. My next idea is to make a plain bag and embroider a sheep on it for my knitting. maybe...

Here is my second embroidery attempt. These are some linen napkins that needed a little something more. I am really liking hand embroidery- my problem is finding images online.

Here is my first attempt at embroidery. Katherine has this very cute shirt with a simple little bird in the center. The shirt was in the wash at the time, so I used a made up pattern. The thing appears large but fits easily in the palm of my hand. (I have small hands) I'd love to put little birds on her plain shorts and t-shirts. There was a super duper book at the Bonita library, Reader's Digest Complete Guide to Embroidery Stitches. I totally love that book and want to own it! I was reading online about redwork, a form of embroidery done long ago with red cotton thread. http://www.prettyimpressivestuff.com/redwork.htm This link is where I started. I spent another hour finding out more, there was also bluework. I did not research that much, seemed similar, from an earlier time period. I'll look into it more when I have more interest. Can't wait to find some plain white dishtowels.

This is blurry- still learning the camera. It is a cake we donated to the church. Colors were inspired by the new beautiful yarn.
